SHAPE A PUP

Where Dog Training Is Fun

Classes:

Do you have a service dog training program? No, we do not offer service dog training.

How many dogs are in a class? Our maximum class size is 6. In classes such as our sports classes where the dogs work one at a time, we limit the size to 4 to ensure everyone gets ample time.

How do I sign up for a class? Go the CALENDAR PAGE for which you wish to enroll Click on the class and then follow the on-screen prompts.

Do I have to use a clicker? We ask that you try using a clicker for the first two weeks. After that time, if necessary, we can discuss the use of verbal markers, such as "yes".

Can I make up a class I miss? In general, due to our class schedule structure, we cannot offer make-ups.

Can my spouse and/or parent attend classes with me? Most definitely. Dogs are family pets and it is important that everyone in the household understand how your dog is being trained.

Will you work with all breeds? Yes, ALL breeds are welcome at Shape A Pup.

What class do you recommend for a fearful dog? Because there are levels of fear and anxiety, ranging from relatively mild to severe, we suggest at least one private lesson before enrolling your fearful dog in a group class. A class setting, even in a fun, positive environment, is still stressful for our dogs, and particularly so for our dogs that are shy and fearful. Meeting with you and your dog in a private session enables us to show you some tools to help ease your dog into a group class as well as a chance to assess your dog's level of fear.

Do you have therapy dog classes? We do not have classes specifically for therapy dogs; however, our Foundation 2 class is good preparation for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test that is a required by many therapy dog organizations.

How much are your classes? In general, our basic classes are $140, our sports and specialty classes are $165 and all are 5 weeks in length. The class price will be displayed when you click on a class.

Is it all right to stop by and visit? We welcome visitors but please do not bring your dog to the visit to avoid distracting the dogs in class. Please understand that if we are teaching a class we will not be able to stop and visit with you until class is over. You are welcome to contact us via EMail or text to schedule a specific visit time.

Holiday Closings? In order for our c lients to enjoy holiday weekends with their families, we do not have weekend classes over Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. These dates are planned for when we set our schedule so we still offer the full 5 weeks of classes.

Facility:

What is the facility size? Shape A Pup is a 4000 square foot, climate-controlled facility.

Where are you located? Our address is 6816 Camp Bowie West, Suite 100 in Fort Worth (76116). We are at the corner of Camp Bowie West and Lackland Road, directly behind Joe's Pasta and Pizza facing Camp Bowie West. There is a Church's Chicken next door to us. If you use a GPS or Internet mapping tool, be sure and enter Camp Bowie WEST to ensure you get accurate directions.

What are your hours? At the present time the facility is only open during classes so we suggest that you check our schedule before stopping by.

Do you offer payment plans? We cannot offer installment options; however, we do accept major credit cards , Zelle and PayPal (on line only). Cash or check payment is due at the first class.

How do I make out my check? Checks should be made payable to Shape A Pup. If you pay with cash, we will appreciate that you bring the exact amount as we keep limited cash on hand.

Can I get a refund? We cannot offer refunds. When you sign up for a class, workshop, seminar, or ANY Shape A Pup offering, we are holding a spot for you in a session with limited enrollment.

Private Lessons:

Do you do in home training or board and trains? I am unable to offer board and trains or in-home training; however, I can refer you to positive reinforcement trainers that do offer these services.

Can you tell me about your private lessons? My private lesson availability is located on the Private Lesson page. They are $90 per session and a typical session will last 1 hour. Multiple dogs from the same household can be included at no additional charge. We will work as many issues as time permits. On line advance payment is preferred.

Vaccination Requirements:

What vaccinations should my dog have? We require that all puppies and adult dogs be current on age appropriate vaccinations as recommended by your veterinarian. ALL dogs must be current on their rabies vaccination once they are old enough to have it. We ask that you enter this information when you enroll and bring a copy of the records to the first class. We also ask that you update the information as necessary.

Do you accept titers and, if so, where do I enter this? Yes. When you enroll, you will enter your dog's vaccinations and there will be a field to enter titer information.

What equipment is required for class? A 6ft leash, flat buckle collar, martingale collar or harness and plenty of treats.

Other Requirements:

All dogs and puppies need to have been in your home a minimum of two weeks prior to your class start date. This gives you time to begin to bond with your new canine family member and for any illness symptoms to manifest and be treated.
